Ever feel like this is true?
I’ve always been that crazy extrovert that loves being out and about, but most of my clients recharge in solitude. When Liz and I started working together two years ago she was so deep in her shell I don’t think anyone could have imagined where she would be today…co-facilitating a Mastermind, leading programs, networking online and off. We went live yesterday and this is her story.
Success won’t make you change who you are, but it will ask you to grow.
When I work with clients there seems to be a real internal conflict around what it takes to be successful. It can feel at times that I am asking them to change who they are. For example, I know how much online business owners are judged on appearances. People are more likely to spend money with someone who looks the part vs someone who jumps on video with a messy bun and a faded t-shirt. Are there “experts” who go live in their pajamas and robe? There are! But, when they were trying to build a following in the early days they probably didn’t do that. So would I recommend that you look your best when you go live, or that you invest in professional photos? Absolutely! Will doing these things change who you are? Absolutely not.
Extrovert, introvert, or somewhere in-between, you’re going to feel uncomfortable A LOT of the time.
One thing that shocks my clients is hearing me say that I’m regularly feeling anxious excitement when I’m working in my business. According to Facebook, I have gone live over 350 times and I have butterflies every time! I gave my discomfort more attention in the beginning, but now I see it as my companion as I grow.
Surrounding yourself with support helps tremendously.
I’ve learned over the last ten years that having a loving support system is what makes it possible for me to keep riding my edge. It’s no wonder that cultivating a supportive community for my clients brings me tons of joy. I know it’s absolutely critical because without it you won’t be as bold, you won’t go as big, and you simply won’t reach your potential.
Embrace who you are!
Be willing to learn and implement new skills for success.
And surround yourself with lots of love as you expand who you are in the world.
