It took me a few years to get this concept but it’s pretty cool and I’m telling you it works every single time.
When I returned to the States in 2006, I had no idea what I was going to do with my life. I had lived overseas and mastered new languages, cultures and work, but it didn’t appear to me that any of those skills would help me here.
I’m naturally a fast learner and a good sales person so I was quick to try different business opportunities and I got one response over and over…
“You’re so young.”
Mind you it doesn’t help that I look young, sound young, and well let’s face it, I am young! I hated hearing this. I hated being young. It seemed to me that being young was the worst thing I could possibly be.
One day it dawned on me that I was going to continue be young for quite some time and I would always be young to someone twice my age, and so I had to find a way to make it work in my favor. I had to find a way to FLIP IT!
I began to play with this concept and started to lighten up about being young. I no longer took offense when I heard the comment, “you’re so young”, and began to answered with, “thank you”. I decided to stayed true to myself and my youngness since I couldn’t change it anyway!
I diligently attended networking events and business groups, often being half the age of the other participants. At first I felt like the odd one out, but then I realized it made me stand out.
Then one day I had this light bulb moment. If Derek and I started a business that helped business owners the age of the people I was used to networking with, I could be effective. And if our business was such that our youth further benefited our clients, we could be successful.
And that is when On Top Internet Marketing was born.
in the middle,
it doesn’t matter.
You can take absolutely anything you conceive as a weakness and FLIP IT! and make it your greatest strength. Your excuses become the very reason you can and will be successful and happy.
I’m a 33 year old, with no college degree who started a successful business during a recession, and I have the time, money and energy to do everything I’ve always wanted to.
Six years ago I could not see how this would be possible. I would never have believed that my “lack” could become my “source”.
And the best news is this is available to a-n-y-o-n-e!
Just think of the biggest thing that holds you back and FLIP IT!Hungry for More, Monique Alvarez p.s. If there are typos, spelling or grammar mistakes in this post don’t worry about. Those are the kinds of things I’ve worried about for FAR too long. It’s time to just get it out and who cares if it’s not perfect, it’s from the heart!
