A favorite activity of mine is to think of all the things I can make with local ingredients. Unlike supermarkets in the U.S., Albanian markets are pretty simple. For example you won’t find an entire aisle dedicated to just cereal!
One of my latest “inventions” is taking the classic grilled cheese and adding a twist. Have a great Friday and enjoy!
Favorite bread, preferably homemade
Red onion (slice thinly and grill in lots of butter)
Heat pan and add two tablespoons of butter. Place bread in pan and layer cheese, thinly sliced tomatoes, grilled onions, another slice of cheese and second piece of bread. Flip when toasted. Slice in half and try not to inhale.
Quick Gardening Tip: If you want to grow your own onions and garlic just let them sprout in the fridge. Separate the garlic carefully, keeping the “shell” in tact. Plant with green sprout poking out of soil. For white, yellow, or red onions carefully cut the layers open until you get to the sprout. Once again plant with green sprout pointing up and out of the soil. Water and put in full sun.Hungry for More, Monique Alvarez *Have you downloaded my free ebook, The Hungry Soul’s Manifesto? It’s all about remembering what’s important in life – creating purpose and passion, instead of just passing the time amassing stuff. p.s. If there are typos, spelling or grammar mistakes in this post don’t worry about. Those are the kinds of things I’ve worried about for FAR too long. It’s time to just get it out and who cares if it’s not perfect, it’s from the heart!
