I bet I can guess what’s going though your mind, “Oh but this time of year is so busy, I can’t even fit in all the holiday parties, shopping, wrapping, cooking….much less fit in deep thinking!”.
This time of year can lull us into a coma and we buy into it because we’ve convinced ourselves that we don’t need to think about how we’re going to “do better” until January. But there isn’t anything special about January unless we make it special. Magical fairies don’t show up that instantly make it easy to lose weight, stop smoking, make more money etc.
But if we stop to consciously look at our lives we can get anywhere we want to go.
I’ve noticed a common misconception that says if we are breathing and walking, that we are conscious. The truth is conscious living is a deliberate choice. Conscious living requires us to wake up and face the aspects of our lives that we aren’t exactly pleased with. Ignoring things doesn’t make them go away, in fact it re-creates them over and over until we get so sick of it that we look them squarely in the eye. Conscious living is being aware of ourselves and how our thoughts, words and actions literally create our world.
I often hear people say they wish life came with an owner’s manual—but it does!
Road maps are all around us. Some of my favorite maps are:
Law of Attraction by Abraham Hicks
The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent by Abraham Hicks
Conversations with God I, II, III by Neale Donald Walsch
Wisdom on how to create happy relationships, wonderful families, wealth and health are available to us. Our first job is to decide that we don’t want to be unconscious anymore. Once we do that the right people, books and opportunities will show up and I mean fast. Then our second job is to listen, learn and apply this wisdom to our lives.
I first read Law of Attraction about two years ago. It blew my mind! On the one hand it all made sense to me, but on the other hand I knew I had to let go of some old belief systems if I was really going to apply the principles. It’s amazing how those old “tapes” play in our mind and we don’t even understand how “our story” keeps us in a holding pattern. This is who I am, this happened to me, I tried that but it didn’t work and on and on it plays.
I decided I didn’t have anything to lose so I kept reading.
It was then that clarity replaced mystery and I began to see how I could map out my life, relationships, family, business, everything. It was the most liberating feeling – I was creating my life just exactly how I wanted it! We are all creators but we don’t always know the power that we have. We can either own it or give it away.
Here’s to OWNING it!

p.s. If there are typos, spelling or grammar mistakes in this post don’t worry about. Those are the kinds of things I’ve worried about for FAR too long. It’s time to just get it out and who cares if it’s not perfect, it’s from the heart!
