I took some time away from the computer yesterday for the anti-SOPA internet blackout.
Or at least that’s what I thought I was doing.
It turned out to be a l o n g conversation with Derek about life, our lives, in particular.
Have you thought about who is molding your life?
Looking over the last six years, we discussed who or what was molding our lives. We had to admit that it was very rarely us.
Social norms, family expectations, peer pressure and false definitions of success were often the “why” behind our decisions.
Derek never wanted to stop painting and I never wanted to stop working with kids in orphanages overseas but neither one of has done our heart work for over five years now. How does this happen?
What lead to you NOT doing what’s in your heart to do?
After hours of reflection, I was reminded of something I read in The Law of Attraction by Esther and Jerry Hicks.
Most of your time will be spent collecting data-data that will help you decide what it is you want. Your real work is to decide what you want and then focus upon it, for it is through focusing upon what you want that you will attract it.
We looked long and hard at the data we’ve collected over the last five years or so and we could clearly see what we prefer and what we do not.
It’s not easy to admit when you’ve got away from your purpose.
It’s not easy to confess to shutting your heart down.
We admitted and confessed and I can tell you we will never do it again.
I will never deny myself the joy of doing what I love and what I would gladly do for free ever again.
I will not choose money or position or stuff over my heart’s desire.
I will not let anyone scare me into doing what I know goes against my intuition.
I will live from my heart.
I will be me, all me and nothing but me until I breathe my last breath.
I am putting this into writing so that you, me and the world know that on January 18th, 2012 Monique committed to being the primary molder of her life.
Here’s to looking at the data and laying down what does not fit, compliment or serve us. And to returning to that which always made our hearts sing.
Hungry for More, Monique Alvarez p.s. If there are typos, spelling or grammar mistakes in this post don’t worry about. Those are the kinds of things I’ve worried about for FAR too long. It’s time to just get it out and who cares if it’s not perfect, it’s from the heart!
You would not likely see a sculptor throwing his large wad of clay down onto his worktable exclaiming, “Oh, it didn’t turn out right! He knows that he must put his hands into his clay and work with it to mold it so that the vision in his mind matches the clay on is table. The variety of your life experience gives you the clay from which you will mold your life experience, and merely observing it as it is, without getting ahold of it and deliberately molding it to match your desires, is not satisfying-and is not what you had in mind when you made the decision to come into this time-space reality. We want you to understand that your “clay,” no matter how it may look right now, is moldable. No exceptions.
